PRIMEDIA's New CEO Tom Rogers Begins October 27, 1999.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 27, 1999--

PRIMEDIA Inc. (NYSE:PRM) announced today that Tom Rogers, former President of NBC Cable and Executive Vice President of NBC, has been elected Chairman and Chief Executive of PRIMEDIA and begins in that capacity immediately.

"I am very enthusiastic about getting started," said Mr. Rogers. "My first job is to get to know the management team and formulate a strategy for moving PRIMEDIA ahead as a pre-eminent media company integrating print, video and Internet information. My strategy will focus on four key elements:

- Accelerating growth, including initiatives which position

PRIMEDIA as a pre-eminent player in new media sectors;

- Building an organizational structure to enable that growth;

- Reviewing the portfolio of businesses to determine if certain

ones should be divested, and

- Implementing cost control measures aimed at increasing the

company's productivity.

"I expect to introduce our strategy at some point during the first quarter of 2000," said Mr. Rogers.
