SA: Wife of dead cyclist confronts lawyer in court
The wife of a dead cyclist has confronted a prominent lawyer charged over his death,
saying she doesn't hate the man but pities him.
Di Gilchrist has told former policeman and criminal lawyer Eugene McGee that he killed
her husband, Ian Humphrey.
The father of two was killed when his bike collided with McGee's four-wheel drive in
South Australia's Barossa Valley in 2003.
McGee admits he didn't stop at the scene.
He's been acquitted of dangerous driving and found guilty of the lesser crime of driving
without due care.
Giving a statement in the South Australian District Court, Ms Gilchrist has told McGee
he killed her husband, but she pities him rather that hating him.
