VIC: Woman who died when car hit tree was Boronia 20 year old

MELBOURNE, Aug 8 AAP - A woman was killed last night when the car in which she was a
passenger hit a tree north of Melbourne.

Police said the dead woman was aged 20 from the outer northern Melbourne suburb of Boronia.

The driver, an 18-year-old from Launching Place, east of the city, was uninjured.

After the accident he was helping police with their inquiries.

The pair had been driving along Creightons Creek Road near Euroa, north of Melbourne, when
the accident happened at about 8.20pm.

The woman's death was the first of two in motor vehicle accidents in Victoria overnight.

A 26-year-old man from south-east Melbourne was killed when the motorcycle he was riding
veered off the road and hit a tree in Keysborough.

A pillion passenger was taken to Dandenong Hospital with minor injuries.

The state's road toll now stands at 231 - eleven more than for the same period last year.
